"Parc des écluses" is an artificial island, at the entrance of the canal Lachine, in the port of Montréal. This was the old shipping way to go from Montreal to the american lakes in Ontario and Chicago. This canal is now an edge between dowtown and a post-industrial neighbourhood which is becoming new developements.
